Absolute stand out on all fronts. The management team: Jon, Sam & Lewis were just marvellous wuth the food & service that honestly was extraordinary. Plus it was pet friendly.
Half way through our supper, I had to go out to my car & saw that I had a flat tire, it was a dark & frosty evening, & having just driven from Tuscany I didn't feel up to a wheel change.
Hoping a local garage might be recommended, I asked if someone could be recommended. Sadly not, at 76 years of age, my heart sank at the thought of dealing with it, when Sam (he of the amazingly intricate tattoos & marvellous hair) said he'd do it as soon as they had a pause.
Half an hour later he came out changed it for me, just amazing.
I had last visited with my aged mum, & they had been so kind dealing with her relative infermity & dietary needs. Im so pleased to recommend this charming & really beautiful pub.
Thank you ❤️

Hotel staff could not do enough for us to make our stay pleasurable, they were all so friendly and helpful. The breakfast and evening meal was great, the room was warm and the bed was comfy. Lovely historical building but I agree with other reviewers the company need to spend some money to update the hotel. I expect the good reviews may prevent this but the fantastic staff are elevating this.

We had a 30th birthday party for 22 people in their private room. I cannot praise the hotel enough. The staff were brilliant, friendly and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. The food was excellent. Our rooms were upgraded for free and the rooms were beautiful and big super comfortable bed. Highly recommended

This is a review of the restaurant only.
Came here with my daughter after doing a circular walk in the area. Excellent value for money on their light bits lunch menu. It was small plates of their usual main menu, which suited us perfectly. 2 courses £8.99! You could've have 3 courses for £10.99.
We both had chicken strips to start which came with rocket and a dip and for our main we both had hunters chicken. I asked not to have any chips and so had extra salad. It was really very tasty and a lovely ambience in the restaurant. We had late lunch at 2.30 and there were only one other table occupied. I had booked online but certainly on this particular Monday, there was no need. Definitely going there again!

Not stayed in the hotel, but it is the location of the monthly Horton village historical vehicle club meet.
Good spot and lovely restaurant.

So noisy in the room. Everything creaks. Can easily hear people overhead and each side. Could hear tv/ radio until 11.30 pm. Breakfast contiental good. Large car park. Comfortable bed. Unfortunately in need of an upgrade and decorating. Noticeably shabby.

Arrived at hotel at 8pm and where given our room, I asked about food was told can try restaurant or have bar food so went to restaurant where there was 5 tables empty and was told we had to book to eat in the restaurant so went to bar and ordered food there chap was very helpful food was OK, then after a few drink went back to the room and the room wasn't the best quality with a damp patch on the wall and a ceiling of wet brown circles plus show holder held on with a screw , not a good start to my birthday.

Avoid at all cost. We paid for a two night stay to be tortured. Very noisy due to road. Road went quiet between 3-4am other than that relentless. Bed was uncomfortable. Bathroom was huge but the water is cold. Music from the bar below is loud in the room, especially at 7.30am aswell as tables and chairs being dragged around. Door leading from bar up to accommodation slams shut each time anyone goes up and down. Staircase was outside our room so we had the joy of that too. Asked at check in for a quiet room!!! Spoke with Manager who was looking at a move for us. Told us to go up to our room and he would come up. Never saw him again. The whole place needs gutting it's dirty and horrible.

Can definitely tell it's a chain pub. Nothing special and half the ingredients missing from their 'signature' bbq burger.
Cheap and cheerful location and parking are great. That's it

We stayed a couple day's a week ago. We had a large room with an enormous bathroom. We could have showered a rugby team! Very comfortable. We had missed breakfast the first morning but the assistant manager Jon said ‘Go and see Dave’ What a lovely chap. He served us and we had a great chat with him as he had lived in our home town. Chipping Sodbury is a lovely part of the world and Hands Cross is a credit to it. I managed to leave my diary in the bed which they returned to me quickly and even rang me on the Sunday to remind me of my appointments ! Full marks

Arranged to meet family members here on our journey home from the south. Pub itself is nice - staff are friendly - the location is very handy. The menu offers a decent range of options at reasonable prices, including a number of Sunday roasts.
However, service was a little on the slow side, the portions uneven (we all chose a roast dinner but two of us only had one tiny roast potato - the others got three large - and it was supposed to include cauliflower cheese, which only two of us received) and some of the food on the plate was piping hot while other items were lukewarm at best.
I wouldn't rule out a revisit but it wouldn't be my first choice.

Met there with 2 mates. At 1018 on the Saturday 19th and got told that breakfast had stopped at 10am.
But as 1 of the lads had travelled from Blackpool they accommodated us.
Couldn't do enough for us. 3 breakfast and 2 coffee each.
4 star as I thought nearly £60 was a bit steep. Friendliness/hospitality top notch.

Lovely Hotel, plenty of character and has even had a special guest in 1981 (look out for the plaque in reception).
Rooms are a good size and well equipped.
Hotel has great access to the M4 and although it close to the main road you cant hear the road noise from the rooms.
There is also plenty of car parking on site.
Food is freshly cooked and there is a good selection for all tastes.
Staff are very friendly and welcoming

Come here regularly as it’s local for me. Staff have always been polite and attentive. Food has been nice and reasonable price . The pub itself is nice perhaps needs repainting and toilets could do with some attention. Seem to be low of staff.

We went for Sunday lunch and arrived 20 minutes early, this was not a problem as our table was available. The waitress stated that she would be over shortly to take our drinks order, after 15 minutes of waiting and unable to find anyone we went to the bar and ordered our own drinks. The waitress came to take our food order after a further 15 minutes. Our main courses arrived reasonably quickly except one order was missed, burger & chips. Some chips arrived shortly and the burger came a little later. There were also roast potatoes missing from one of the meals. Having resolved these issues we decided to order dessert. Our order was taken reasonably quickly after our main meal was finished but they took a further 40 minutes to arrive just as we were about to pay for the main course and leave. Unfortunately this is not the first time we have experienced poor or slow service at the Cross Hands and we are unlikely to go here again.

Very disappointed by staff, service and overall appearance of the surroundings. Chair I sat on had broken seat so very uncomfortable but other seats not much better. New menu introduced 19th September we visited for a birthday treat on 22nd and placed our food order to find no corn on the cob, no cauliflower cheese or strawberries for a chosen dessert. What a joke.
Food arrived with no cauliflower which was so say to replace the lack of cauliflower cheese but was served when we were half way through the tasteless roast. Staff didn't check for allergies which I thought not good as hubby has garlic Allergy which isn't a top 14 allergen.
Finally the member of staff ask when I paid if everything was OK. I voiced my disappointment as it was a birthday celebration and was greeted with a very poor lack of interest. Restaurant was not busy and with a new menu you would expect all ingredients to be available. Supermarket just 10mins away so what excuse can be made. Apologies very much unacceptable sorry 😞

Friendly helpful staff. Food was very good except a starter described as king prawns with tails on and Chorizo. They were not king prawns and not a tail in sight!
The whole place looks very shabby and uncared for. Don't look too closely or you find a fair bit of dust and dirt.

Not the best experience, When we arrived there was no ice at the bar or snacks available. The whole place is quite run down and the mens toilets certainly put me off eating anything there!. The room we had was a small double and in all honesty felt like a depressing prison cell with paper thin walls (not the greatest nights sleep ive had). Shame as it could be very nice!.
Cheap but certainly not cheerful.
